IN UTERO OPTIONS MAY BE AVAILABLE IN 2026 FOR 2027 FOALS

Our Mares - the Backbone of our Program

Lights and Sirens

Thoroughbred - April 18, 2018

"Sirena" is by Frac Daddy, out of Hillaryswinner (Honor Glide). Sirena was our first horse to get us into the Winner's Circle at the Fort Erie racetrack, and considering she is also a homebred, that moment was even more special for us! Sirena has since been approved with Westfalen in their Main Mare Book 1, as well as being awarded Premium Mare with complimentary scores on her conformation, her trot, and her overall impression. Sirena will be back to the breeding shed in 2026.

Moon Rover

Thoroughbred - Feb 28, 2017

"Moon" is by Tiznow, out of Atlantis Moon (Malibu Moon). She had 16 starts and earned over $26,000 USD on the racetrack. Moon has been approved with Westfalen in their Main Mare Book 1, as well as approved with the Canadian Warmblood Horse Association. She is a large, big bodied mare who stands just over 17 hands. Moon has given us two lovely colts so far, with both of them being awarded Premium foals at their Westfalen inspections. If you are looking for a serious hunter competitor, Moon's offspring is where you want to look!

Perfect Suspect

Thoroughbred - April 21, 2007

"Zoey" is by One Way Love, out of Perfectlydelicious (Bold Ruckus). Zoey had 26 starts on the track, and retired completely sound. She competed at the Retired Racehorse project in Kentucky in 2015, as well as at the Royal Winter Fair for a few years in their thoroughbred division. She has been approved with the RPSI / now Westfalen in their Main Mare Book 1, and has raised four wonderful foals for us so far - two race horses and two sport horses. Zoey's offspring all have the most amazing temperaments - very amateur friendly!

Pharrah HDF

Dutch Harness Horse - April 11, 2020

"Pharrah" is by Zehrline Streamer (Hackney Horse), out of 3-M-A's Gerdina (Dutch Harness Horse). Pharrah is registered with the American Dutch Harness Horse Association, and is broke to drive. Pharrah has a wonderful temperament in harness - she loves to get out there and drive on! She is a very willing mare, and quite brave. We intend to breed her to one of our Dutch Harness Horse Stallions - Goliath or Gelviro. The resulting offspring will be registered KWPN.

S.I.E.C. Larissa

Oldenburg - April 5, 2011

"Larissa" is by Livello, out of S.I.E.C. Contessina (Contendro I) and is by far the biggest asset to our breeding program. She has 177 FEI starts with 4 wins, jumping up to 1.50m. Larissa already has four offspring, three of them all successful in showjumping on the European circuit; two of them competing at 1.30m and 1.45m successfully. Larissa herself retired from competition late summer 2024, and then was presented to Westfalen where she was awarded Premium Mare with an overall score of 8, as well as Predicat Sport Elite due to her performance record.

Southridge Navan Della

Belgian - March 24, 2006

"Della" is by Southridge Navan Superior (Jay-Lou-Supreme), out of Southridge Navan Daisie May (Eddie Du Marais). She was our very first draft horse - and she was Todd's very first horse ever.

Della took us to multiple fall fairs, and also the Royal Winter Fair for a couple years, including showing in the cart classes in the main coliseum.

Della also gave us our very first draft filly foal, Hammerdown Danika. Della is now retired from breeding and competition, but still helps us out with raising the foals when needed. Della is an absolutely wonderful mare with the young ones. She has even shown us that she is quite capable of taking on nurse mare duties if ever needed. Truly a gentle giant.

Sympressa HDF

KWPN - May 8, 2022

"Sylvi" is by Goliath (Vaandrager HBC) out of Perfect Suspect (One Way Love). She is a lovely, large framed and solid mare, already standing over 16.1 hands tall, with fabulous movement. As a weanling she received an overall score of 8 in an open warmblood breed class, impressing the inspectors with her movement, elasticity, and natural swing. In 2025, Sylvi received breeding approvals with both the Oldenburg GOV as well as Westfalen, with an overall score of 7 from both registries. UPDATE from November 2025 - Sylvi has been sold to a jumper trainer in Quebec, so watch for this lovely up and coming duo in the coming years!

HONOURABLE MENTION - Hammerdown Thor

Belgian Gelding - April 4, 2004

"Thor" needs to be included because he is the world's best babysitter with the foals. So even though he isn't part of the breeding stock, he plays a very valuable roll at Hammerdown Farm, especially during weaning time. Thor is retired from driving and showing, but he will always hold a special place here with us. He is also the boss of the entire herd. Everyone, from the foals to the adults, looks up to and respects Thor.

Tough as Flint

March 20, 2020 - January 17, 2026

"Tilly" was only with us for 7 short weeks - life can be cruel and unfair at times. Even though our time together was way too short, she still worked her way into our hearts and will always be considered a part of our family and herd. RIP Tilly

Hillaryswinner

Feb 18, 2006 - May 29, 2023

"Hillary" was the mare that started us on this breeding endeavour. She was by Honor Glide, out of Yanks Song (Seattle Song). She had 15 starts and earned just over $25,000 USD on the racetrack.

Hillary was presented to the RPSI (now Westfalen) where she was awarded Premium Mare, Site Champion, and ended up in the top 10 highest scoring mares for all of North America in 2013.

Her first foal was our very first breeding, and our very first homebred. That was Whatsonemore (aka Tyson) who had 11 starts as a racehorse, and has since moved on to competing in three day eventing with his new owner.

Hillary also took us to the Royal Winter Fair a couple years in a row, and was Reserve Grand Champion in the thoroughbred classes.

Sadly we lost Hillary in 2023, but her presence is still here on the farm - she is greatly missed and reminisced about often. RIP Hillary

You Bean Executive

Mar 2, 2005 - Dec 21, 2023

"Lacey" was the very first OTTB to come to Hammerdown Farm back in 2010. She was always considered Todd's horse, as when we went to go see her at the track, Todd said "I like her" and well, she came home with us that day!

Lacey was by Bold Executive, out of You Gotta Pay Him (Alydeed). She had just 7 starts on the racetrack, and then came to live with us. She was approved in the Main Mare Book 1 with RPSI (now Westfalen), showed at the Royal Winter Fair a few years for us in the thoroughbred line classes, and gave us two absolutely lovely fillies. Her first foal, Malina HDF, was the very first filly to be born at Hammerdown Farm.

Lacey herself was a natural jumper, and showed tremendous scope and willingness in the jump chute. Sadly though, due to some severe arthritis in her spine up by her poll, we had to make the decision to let her body be at peace in 2023. RIP Lacey

The People Behind the Vision

Candace Sirianni

Candace started taking English riding lessons when she was 11 years old.  She got her first horse, a speedy little Quarter Horse named Kellie, when she was 12 years old. Candace has been thoroughly involved with horses ever since. From Pony Club and 4H, to competing in everything from three day eventing, barrel racing, cow sorting, dressage, show jumping, carriage driving, line classes, draft horses, owning a couple racehorses, and of course breeding and raising foals and young stock.

Todd Haughland

Todd's love and admiration for horses grew while getting to know Candace's very opinionated Thoroughbred mare Dolly. However Todd always loved watching the draft horse hitches at the fairs; he was always drawn to them. So it just made sense to get a Belgian when looking for that perfect first horse of his own. Todd has now branched into all aspects of horse raising, including working on the backside with racehorses, foaling out mares, and when time allows, harnessing up and going for a drive.
